Abe Classic: Releasing Resistance

Abraham-Hicks, Fairfax, VA 4/29/95

Imagine this situation: A car is driving down the street at 100 mph, and it runs into a tree which is standing right in the middle of the road. Big problem. Two factors are involved - one is the velocity of the car and the other is the tree standing there. If the car were only going 5 mph, even if it hit the tree, it would not be a big problem. Or it could easily avoid the tree at 5 mph. Or, if the tree were not there at all, the car could be going 200 mph and it would not be a problem.

Every now and again, somebody will say to us, "Abraham, is it normal for all hell to break loose in one's life when they begin doing Abraham work?" And we say, "Yes, in the beginning." Because the first thing we encourage you to do is identify and clarify your desire. Desire is synonymous with the velocity of the car. When you identify and clarify your desire, your car goes faster, which means you're likely to run into those trees; trees which were there, in most cases, for many years, but you were not noticing at a slower speed. Now that your energy is moving faster because of your desire, your resistance is more apparent. Are you getting a sense of what we're talking about?

Most people, when they get in that situation, slow the car down. They slow the wanting down. And that gives them a temporary feeling of well-being. But it doesn't do anything about the resistance. So you can go through years, with this resistance getting a little more and your car going slower and slower. That's why people decline as they move through time. They want less, which means they summon less energy - because in wanting something that they cannot have, they were frustrated and banging into trees, so they slow their wanting down and let their resistance get greater and greater.

And that's the state of affairs that you see in most people around you. Well, what we're wanting to teach you is to get your car going so fast that those trees become very obvious and now you know what to do with the trees. In other words, you stop and just talk about it until you feel better and, in time, there are no more trees. In 30 days of applying this, you can release 95% of them. And then now and again, an old ugly tree that has been with you a long time will rear its ugly head and give you a run for your money, but when that happens, at least now you know what to do about it.

Abraham in Three Steps

Abraham-Hicks from tape G 12/6/95

We want to make three powerful statements to you, and if these are the only three things you ever hear, they will be enough.

NUMBER ONE:

The ONLY problem, the ONLY thing that causes you any trouble, the only thing that slows you down, the only thing that keeps you from what you want, the only thing that makes you sick is RESISTANCE.

NUMBER TWO:

Resistance is always accompanied by negative emotion, negative emotion and/or pain - in other words pain is an extension of the same thing, physical discomfort.

NUMBER THREE:

Resistance is always always always pushing against something.

Abe: All Lack is Degrees of Resistance

Abraham, Philadelphia, PA 10/13/04

If you have physical discomfort in your body it is a result of longstanding resistance which means something has been bothering you a long long time and usually what it boils down to is someone or something has made me, consistently for a pretty good period of time, feel like I don’t have the freedom to be or do or have what I want to do.

And sometimes you can assign it to someone else. Sometimes you can assign it to your own insecurity. Sometimes it’s because there has been or is a dominant person in your experience that always wants to tell you where you are going to go have dinner. And sometimes it’s your own feeling of insecurity that makes you acquiesce to others, but it’s a perception of loss of power or freedom usually.

 [snip]

If you have got a little resistance going on in your vibration, it’s going to show up like emotion. And if you don’t do anything about soothing your thought then it’s going to show up as sensation. And if you don’t do anything about soothing it, then it’s going to show up like stiffness or soreness. And if you don’t do anything about soothing it, now it’s going to show up as stronger diagnosis.

In other words, these are all degrees of resistance
. We think it’s very nice to have a real manifested evidence of vibration, because as you determine to take emotional journeys, not only are you going to feel better, but the sensation will feel better too.

Now we want to say something powerful to you here. Earlier we said to our friend. “Can you have sore hips, which is the action journey, and hopefulness at the same time. So if you can separate those two experiences: there is the way my body feels and there’s the way I feel about the way my body feels. And if you will determine that you are going to feel optimistic about the way your body feels now the other part of it must turn around.

Abe: Chill Out

Processes are good - overdoing them isn't good.

Because when you overdo processes, what's the underlying thing?

"I'm not doing well."
"I need to work really hard."
"I'm far from where I want to be."

Listen to yourselves when you say "Oh yeah, I sort of want that" and "I really, really, really, really want that."

Well the things that you really, really, really want, usually you're really, really, really practising really, really, really big thoughts that really, really, really hold you in really, really resistance to what you really, really want.

Give it a break - give it a break.

Step 1 happened. Step 2 happened. Chill out. Be easy.
