Create Your Own Position
Abraham-Hicks (tape), 12/14/90
Abraham: A very nice man called recently excited that a new job position was just coming into fruition. An opening that had never existed before was now being offered and it had new job specifications. And as he viewed it he was delighted to see that it matched everything that was his idea of the perfect job to have.
And yet he could not accept (because he is still playing the game of being too humble and timid to accept his own power of creation) he could not accept that that job was literally a product of his own creation- that the balance of thoughts, speculation and ideas that he had been offering over a period of time had literally resulted in somebody else within the structure of the organization bringing into fruition this.

Seth: You Can Awaken from your Normal Waking State
Seth, The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events, Session 830, pp. 149-150
Seth: Your world and everything in it exists first in the imagination, then. You have been taught to focus all of your attention upon physical events, so that they carry the authenticity of reality for you. Thoughts, feelings, or beliefs appear to be secondary subjective--or somehow not real--and they seem to rise in response to an already established field of physical data.
You usually think, for example, that your feelings about a given event are primarily reactions to the event itself. It seldom occurs to you that the FEELINGS THEMSELVES might be primary, and that the particular event was somehow a response to your emotions, rather than the other way around. The all-important matter of your focus is largely responsible for your interpretation of any event.
For an exercise, then, imagine for a while that the subjective world of your thoughts, feelings, inner images, and fantasies represent the "rockbed reality" from which physical events emerge. Look at the world for a change from the inside out, so to speak. Imagine that physical experience is somehow the materialization of your own subjective reality. Forget what you have learned about reactions and stimuli. Ignore for a time everything you have believed, and see your thoughts as real events. Try to view normal physical occurrences as the concrete physical reactions in space and time to your own feelings and beliefs. For indeed your subjective world causes your physical experience.
In titling this Chapter, I used the word "mechanics," because mechanisms suggest smooth technological workings. While the world is not a machine—its inner workings are such that no technology could ever copy them—this involves a NATURAL mechanics in which the inner dimensions of consciousness everywhere emerge to form a materialized, cohesive, physical existence. Again, your interpretations of identity teach you to focus awareness in such a way that you cannot follow the strands of consciousness that connect you with all portions of nature. In a way, the world is like a multidimensional, exotic plant growing in space and time, each thought, dream, imaginative encounter, hope or fear, growing naturally into its own bloom—a plant of incredible variety, never for a moment the same, in which each smallest root, leaf, stem, or flower has a part to play and is connected to the whole.
Even those of you who intellectually agree that you form your own reality find it difficult to accept emotionally in certain areas. You are, of course, literally hypnotized into believing that your feelings arise IN RESPONSE to events. Your feelings, however, cause the events you perceive. SECONDARILY, you do of course THEN react to those events.
You have been taught that your feelings must necessarily be tied to specific physical happenings. You may be sad because a relative has died, for example, or because you have lost a job, or because you have been rebuffed by a lover, or for any number of other accepted reasons. You are told that your feelings must be in response to events that are happening, or have happened. Often, of course, your feelings "happen ahead of time," because those feelings are the initial realities from which events flow.
A relative might be ready to die, though no exterior sign has been given. The relative's feelings might well be mixed, containing portions of relief and sadness, which you might then perceive—but the primary events are subjective.
It is somewhat of a psychological trick, in your day and age, to come to the realization that you do in fact form your experience and your world, simply because the weight of evidence SEEMS to be so loaded at the other end, because of your habits of perception. The realization is like one that comes at one time or another in the dream state, when suddenly they "awaken" while still in the dream, realizing first of all that they are dreaming, and secondarily that they are creating the experienced drama.
To understand that you create your own reality requires that same kind of "awakening" from the normal awake state—at least for many people. Some of course have this knack more than others. The realization itself does indeed change "the rules of the game" AS FAR AS YOU ARE CONCERNED (louder) to a rather considerable degree. There are reasons why I am mentioning this now rather than in earlier books. Indeed, our books follow their own rhythms, and this one is IN A WAY a further elaboration upon The Nature of Personal Reality.
As long as you believe that either good events or bad ones are meted out by a personified God as the reward or punishment for your actions, or on the other hand that events are meaningless, chaotic, subjective knots in the tangled web of an accidental Darwinian world, then you cannot consciously understand your own creativity, or play the role in the universe that you are capable of playing as individuals or as a species. You will instead live in a world where events happen to you, in which you must sacrifice to the gods of one kind or another, or see yourselves as victims of an uncaring nature.
While still preserving the integrity of physical events as you understand them, [each of] you must alter the focus of your attention to some extent, so that you begin to perceive the connections between your subjective reality at any given time, and those events that you perceive at any given time. You are the
intiator of those events.
This recognition does indeed involve a new performance on the part of your own consciousness, a mental and imaginative leap that gives you control and direction over achievements that you have always performed, though without your conscious awareness.
As mentioned before (in Session 828), early man had such an identification of subjective and objective realities. As a species, however, you have developed what can almost be called secondary nature—a world of technology in which you also now have your existence, and complicated social structures have emerged from it. To develop that kind of structure necessitated a division between subjective and objective worlds. Now, however, it is highly important that you realize your position, and accomplish the manipulations of consciousness that will allow you to take true conscious responsibility for your actions and your experience.
You can "come awake" from your normal waking state, and that is the natural next step for your consciousness to follow--one for which your biology has already equipped you. Indeed, each person DOES attain that recognition now and then. It brings triumphs and challenges as well. In those areas of life where you are satisfied, give yourselves credit, and in those areas where you are not, remind yourselves that you are involved in a learning process; you are daring enough to accept responsibility for your actions.

Abe: You Actually DO Want to Work. Really.
Abraham-Hicks, Phoenix, AZ - 04-26-94
Guest: I have a question that has to do with business. I have two businesses that I'm working on right now. And one of them, it's real easy for me to flow my Energy to. And I work alone. And I'm very, very good at what I do - and I like it!
The other business depends on other people, to attract the right people to be able to make a business work for them. And what's happening is I'm not attracting people that are capable and willing to do it without me. I mean, in other words...I'm trying to create a business where, once I give them the idea and teach them how to do it, that they should just do it. And what I'm wanting to know is -- and when they talk to me, they talk like they want to do it and they're going to do it. They never seem to get around to do or it, or they have all these obstacles that stop them from doing it. So...
[snip]
The promise is to be able to build an income that will continually come in, called a passive income, that if I get up, or if I don't get up, I still have an income coming in.
Abraham: And so, what we want to point out to you is that there is something inherently wrong with that. And what is inherently wrong with it is that you are, from your place of not wanting to work so hard, saying, "I don't want to work so hard. I want to find something that doesn't require so much hard work." So from this place of not wanting to work so hard, from that feeling place, you've involved yourself in a business that promises that you won't have to work so hard, but the *vibration* is lackful!
And so, here is the bridge for that: We don't think that you are not wanting to offer effort or Energy. In fact, we think that if any of you did not have to go to work tomorrow, that you'd fill your day with something else! - You'd be golfing. You'd be shopping. You'd be getting together with friends. In other words, you like the deliciousness of spending your time in purposeful ways. So it's not that you don't want to do something; it's that you want more choice about what you do.
So what you're wanting to begin saying is, not "I want a business that will provide me the luxury of income even if I don't do anything." The bridge that you're wanting to say is, "I am wanting this business because I get to choose every part of my involvement in it. And, as I choose every part of my involvement in it, the dollars will flow to me, abundantly."
Can you feel sort of the difference in that?
[snip]
So as you put a different twist on this -- in other words, what comes to you is not about earning. It's about opening the valve and allowing. What comes to you is not about justifying, or excusing, or explaining. Most of you work so hard to justify the money that comes to you. And if you'd just chill out, the money would come much more easily, you see!
But you've got yourselves vibrationally convinced that you have to pay a price, that there has to be strain and struggle for there to be any payoff. And we say to you, that is utterly backwards. That only works in a world that is pounding on action. And action won't bring you, in Esther's terms: 'diddly squat'! Action will only provide for you a miniscule, mediocre experience. It is not your action that brings it to you. It's your vibrational Energy flow!
[snip]
Guest: So, would it pay for me to spend some time with the people that I'm involved in business with, then, talking about how we're flowing our Energy? Or should I do it myself?
[snip]
Abraham: What you're wanting to teach them, and what you're wanting to remember, yourself, is -- you're wanting to keep your valve open. And if you can keep your valve open, while you worry about what somebody's doing or not doing, you're a miracle. In other words, we've never met one who could do it. If you can keep your valve open while you're talking about getting rid of this job, you're an anomaly to the Law of Attraction as we know it to be. We've never met one, you see!
So when, instead of following the techniques that others have tried -- and we tell you, millions have tried and millions have failed -- instead of trying these techniques that have been bantered about for centuries, if, instead, you will say, "I'm going to keep my valve open relative to this subject. Now what is it about this business that rings my bells?" And you just concentrate on keeping your valve open, you see...
You may have heard it said, "It's not the words you speak. It's the music you're playing." When you're tuned in, tapped in, turned on, when you're feeling great, they gravitate to you. That's why your business grew faster in the beginning, before you knew so much. When you thought they'd all get in and go, your valve was open, and more of them got in and went. But when you started noticing not all of them wanted and not all of them went, and you started noticing that good numbers of them didn't go, and you started concentrating on that, your music stopped. You see what we're getting at?
Most of all, lighten up and have fun!

Death: What is the Actual Process?
Abraham, Burlingame, CA - 03/11/00
Guest: I've heard you talk an a lot about death in the last year that... [Abe: We thought we were talking about life.] The thing that I'm still not complete with, is the actual process of the transition itself. I can think about after the transition and be very comfortable with that, but if I think about drowning or falling out of an airplane or some other horrible way of dying, I don't feel real comfortable with that.
Abraham: Do you ever have a bad dream? [Yes] And do you ever wake up right in the middle of it? [Yes] That's what death is like in those "horrible" situations you just described. In other words, right in the middle of something that you feel would be abhorrent or intolerable, you wake up into the reality of who you really are -- and it is like a distant dream that is not in your now.
[snip]
And so, we can understand how you would be a little confused about how you would feel about it. But we have to say to you, you live in this Universe that is always yielding good things to you, and that the transition into Nonphysical is like, in one fell swoop, leaving behind all worry and fear. But what happens is, you see it as something not wanted, and so you push against it. Most people are pushing so hard against this death thing that they are not allowing themselves to truly live. So, there are few of you that are really living in the free, good feeling, of this moment, that you could if you were releasing your fear of death.
If we were standing in your physical shoes we would begin saying, on a regular basis, "I love this physical experience. And as long as there are things that are drawing my attention, and as long as I am able to allow the Energy to flow through me, I want to run rambunctiously in this physical body. I want a long, healthy, happy physical experience. And when there are no longer things that are calling me, I will make my transition quickly."
In this physical time/space reality, it's pretty easy for you to utilize the contrast. You are becoming a global consciousness. You have lots of experiences, early in life experience. There is always more for you, but often you find yourself not able to find something more that you are wanting. But your Inner Being is never in that position. And in the moment that you spend time saying, "Well, I'm really not interested in that, and I'm really not interested in that," and you are not able to muster something that is summoning life through you, your Inner Being always says, "Well, there's plenty going on here, come on with us." So there is a withdrawal of your consciousness from here -- just like getting up and walking out of a movie that's no longer pleasing you, or leaving a conversation that doesn't feel good any more. But your consciousness does not miss a beat.
And so, the only question that we really want to talk about, relative to the death process, is not about the moment of death, that's a piece of cake. What we want to talk to you about is how much you are willing to endure not being fully connected to Source Energy before you make that decision.
We would far rather that all of you walk out and get run over by a truck, in the moment that you leave this building, than that you spend long lingering years worrying about one thing and another, and pinching the Life Force off, little by little. It is much more effective to just get it over with, reemerge into Nonphysical -- and then make another run at something that will summon more Energy through you.
That's what the beasts of your planet do. They come and go very easily because they're not worried about death. They know they're eternal beings. They are always fully focused in life. And they come to their full maturity faster and easier in life experience, and so they come in, they become mature, they experience the deliciousness of life, they make their transition -- and they come again, and again, and again and again. And you are the same.

Abraham: Are Lawsuits Worth It?
Abraham, Boca Raton, FL - 10/30/2006
Guest: I’ve just been doing a remodel for the last year in South Florida, so that should say it all with the amount of aggravation and also about three weeks ago I had my cell phone stolen on the beach.
What I’m getting at is I’m now in the process of possibly suing my electrician and possibly having to sue some tile person and I don’t want to. I want them to just step up to the plate, give me my money back, finish the work. I don’t want to have to go through this trouble.
Abraham: The story we just told you was about them. That person that we were just talking about was about them. You know think about it: So, you’re not doing what you said you were going to do. You’ve got my money. You’ve held me up. You’ve slowed up the job. I don’t like being with you. I thought I was going to have a better relationship with you, but I don’t like being with you for all of these reasons.
But now I realize that I have no control over you, even if I take you to court, all I would do is activate a vibration in myself which will bring me ten more just like you to me quickly. Law of Attraction doesn’t squirrel around. LOA is utterly consistent.
But now I realize that I have no control over you, even if I take you to court, all I would do is activate a vibration in myself which will bring me ten more just like you to me quickly. Law of Attraction doesn’t squirrel around. LOA is utterly consistent.
So here you are and I NEED you to be different. I NEED you to be honorable. I NEED you to be the way I need you to be. And never mind what you’re going through. Never mind that there have been hurricanes. Never mind that your demand is high. Never mind. I’m not going to give any attention to what you might be living, I’m just noticing that as far as my relationship goes with you, you are terrible and I don’t like you. And I feel awful.
And the reason I feel awful is because my Inner Being still likes you. And my IB still expects the best from you. And my IB still knows the value of you, but I …you wore me down and I don’t like you any more. I need you to do something different. I need it so much I’m going to SUE you. I’m going to make the courts MAKE you do something different, or I’m going to die trying.
And then you say, oh now how did that story go? I don’t like you for all of these reasons, but I want a relationship with my IB so much and my IB so feels differently about you, that I’m going to see if I can find something that will help me to let go of those oars and turn and go with the flow.
So what thoughts could I think that would get me closer to how my IB feels about you: Oh yeah, you’ve been pretty overwhelmed, haven’t you? And your business has been stretched to its limits. And people have been asking things of you that aren’t even possible. And you’ve had more demand on your time and company and resources than you’ve ever had before. And almost nobody could step up to that kind of plate. And the intensity of your life must be really something.
And yet here you stand as an expert that does hold the key to something that I need. And I appreciate that you have built a company, that you even have the resources to do it, that it’s even possible that you could do what I need you to do. And I feel for you. I know that it must be very difficult for you. And I’m starting to understand that a little bit.
And I when remember choosing you to begin with, I remember feeling the clarity of Who You Are and I imagine that’s why you are in such high demand. And I think that almost anybody could get out of balance in these intense situations, I know I have. And I sure like it when somebody understands me rather than screaming at me when I’m out of balance I like it a lot better when somebody tries to soothe me when I’m out of balance. And now I’m back in balance more and more, and I can do a better job of soothing you.
And without ever having any of this conversation with this person, when you have this conversation with yourself about this person, you come into alignment with Who You Are. And now you and your IB are on the same page. Now your vibration is not scattered. Now you are the one that occurs to him. Now the cooperative aspect of him is in vibrational alignment with you who have come into alignment with that.
Have you ever had the experience where you didn’t do something that somebody wanted you to do and then you you started needing to avoid them because every time you saw them, you needed them to do it so much and you just amplified the absence of them?
(Blogger's note: Abe switched subjects and objects in the previous sentence, but you get the general idea.)
J and E have a situation with someone, they’ve been waiting for a long time. It’s a company that does the most magnificent water features that they’ve ever seen anywhere. And he built one for them in Texas at their property and they want another one built at their new residence. And his part needs to be in place even before they begin the residence because there is so much piping and water and it all ties into a swimming pool which ties into something else which ties into something else.
But the man is under such high demand that even though he adores J & E and wants to come and be there for them, he just can’t right now. And the more they feel uncomfortable with his inability to get to it, the more he can’t even bear to return their phone call because they are a vibration that opposes Who He Is and what he really wants to feel.
IOW, they have to get back into alignment with the water feature he built for them. They have to feel the appreciation for what he has done. They have to come into alignment with their dream because as long as he has made them feel out of alignment with their dream, they can’t get to their dream and that’s why they might resent him, but it isn’t him it’s them.
So we do make it all about you. We make it about you, not your partner. We make it about you, not your electrician. We make it about you because it IS all about you…because you can control your vibrational relationship with you. It’s all you can control, but it’s enough. It’s everything you see.
Ah. The power of influence that you are when you come into alignment with you and when you get lined up and people look at you and they say: How come you’re always on the top of the heap? How come things work out for you? Why are doors always opening for you? I work a lot harder than you do and things are going so well for you.
And you say: I’m charmed. I’m blessed. I go downstream. I’ve lined up my energy. I’ve figured out the secret. I now understand what to do. I was always in charge, I just didn’t know it. I gave my power over to this one and this one and this one and this one, by giving them responsibility for what happened in my life and now I’ve taken the responsibility back because I care how I feel. Now I’m tuned in, tapped in and turned on in every subject in the world and the Universe has all these cooperative beings that help me and I must look really odd because I get every single thing I want and I get it fast.
Guest: (Sings) Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream...
Abraham: Now what? More? Even though we’ve given you everything you ever need forevermore? Such Greed. Yes. Tell me more things that will make me feel powerful. Tell me more things that will help me get to where I want to be.
We’ll never stop telling you. And we’ll never stop knowing your success and we’ll never stop vibrating in your success and we’ll never stop living in your success. And we’ll never stop offering the signal of it, but you got to line up with it because we don’t have control over what you do with your signal.

SHOULD WE PERSIST IN WANTING OUR WANTS?
Abraham - Phoenix, AZ - 2/19/00
Guest: I'm looking for tools to have better clarity quicker. Often, because I know that it's better to have nothing in my life in a certain area than to be doing something that I'm not interested in, I'll clear the decks and I'll see a Stick (subject) and it'll interest me. I'll pick it up and I'll run with it for awhile, and then it's no longer interesting to me. It's no longer bringing me positive thoughts. So I'll drop it. Then I'll go on and pick the next Stick up. And so, would it be in my better interest to stick with that one Stick (subject) and work with letting go of negative thoughts?
"Clearing the Deck" Eliminates Your Launching Pad
Abraham: Maybe, or to carry more sticks at the same time. In other words, a very fun and effective tool is, let's say you are feeling unfulfilled about something, and so you imagine doing something different. And even though the idea of it isn't a very strong idea, you still go with it just to see what it will give you. You just play it out: Pretend it either way. Pretend that you are doing it, and then pretend that you don't do it. And often, out of that will be born another idea, or another idea, or another idea.
But most of you are accustomed to responding to the reality that you are living -- and so, you are having knee-jerk responses to what already is. You said, "often I find it's better to just clear the deck." So it's sort of like wiping away your launching pad. It is often more beneficial to stand right where you are, even if it's in a place that you don't want to be, so much, and let the contrast net you a really good rocket of desire.
Any subject that you take, if you will run with it long enough, it will do one of two things: It will either produce more clarity of what is wanted, or more clarity of what is not wanted. It will stir something up. And in either way you win, because all genius is, is attention to a subject. So if you get hold of something, and you really focus on it, the Universe is going to give you more information about it.
What often happens, though, is that you're sort of running in two directions with it. You're going with it because you don't know what else to do, but you're not enjoying it fully. And so, you're fanning both ends of that "Stick," which gives you the feeling that you're standing still, until finally it just becomes unpleasant, and then you just put the "Stick" down.
Don't spend much time doing anything that isn't feeling really, really good. If it doesn't get to feeling good, pretty darn fast, then leave it and reach for another.

Breakdown of Bridge Beliefs about Money and Abundance
Excerpt from Abraham's The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent: Living the Art of Allowing, pp. 67-70
Vibrational Relativity Regarding My Financial Abundance
The following are some examples of the vibrational relativity between the common desires and the beliefs that we see in many people regarding their financial abundance. First we will state a common desire that many people hold regarding money or about abundance, and then we will list a series of common beliefs about that desire. And next, in brackets, following those beliefs, we will indicate the degree of vibrational compatibility.
For any desire to be realized by you, or before anything can manifest in your life experience, there must be vibrational compatibility between your desires and your beliefs.
As you read down each of the following lists, notice the feeling of the lessening of resistance – or the improvement in the vibrational relationship – between the stated desire and the commonly associated belief.
Desire: I want more money.
Belief: I'm so tired of not being able to afford to do the things I
want to do.
[This belief is vibrationally incompatible with the stated desire.]
Belief: If I plan well, I can shift things around so that my money
goes further.
[This belief is vibrationally more compatible with the stated
desire.]
Belief: I'm so glad I have enough money to put toward this thing
that I want.
[This belief is even more compatible with the stated desire.]
•••
Desire: I want money to come to me more easily.
Belief: It seems like too much of my life is spent earning money.
[This belief is vibrationally incompatible with the stated desire.]
Belief: Surely there are things to do that earn more money per hour.
[This belief is vibrationally more compatible with the stated desire.]
Belief: I'm glad I have this marketable skill that pays the bills.
[This belief is even more vibrationally compatible with the stated belief.]
•••
Desire: I want to come into financial balance.
Belief: No matter how hard I try or how much I work, something always seems to come up that keeps me from getting ahead.
[This belief is vibrationally incompatible with the stated desire.]
Belief: I don't have much control over how much money will come in this week, but I do have some control over how much I spend.
[This belief is vibrationally more compatible with the stated desire.]
Belief: I'm gradually coming into balance.
Belief: I'm gradually coming into balance.
[This belief is even more vibrationally compatible with the stated belief.]
•••
Desire: I want to be free of debt.
Belief: I'm so tired of being in so much debt. My monthly payments take such a big piece of my paycheck that there's hardly anything left to enjoy life.
[This belief is vibrationally incompatible with the stated desire.]
Belief: Responsible debt is not such a bad thing; it has allowed me to enjoy things sooner than I would have been able to otherwise.
[This belief is vibrationally more compatible with the stated desire.]
Belief: With or without debt I can achieve financial balance. Some of the most successful entities on the planet have some of the largest debts.
[This belief is even more vibrationally compatible with the stated belief.]
•••
When you decide that you are going to improve the vibrational relationship between what you want regarding money and what you currently believe regarding money, you will begin to see immediate results. Because dollars affect your life in so many different ways, you think about them more often. So, if you are making some effort to feel better whenever the subject of money comes up, you will quickly shift your point of attraction. The improvement in the vibrational relationship between your desires and your beliefs will be apparent right away.

It's Normal to Throw A Fit - That's Guidance.
Abraham - San Antonio, TX 11/17/07
(Blogger's note: Guest says that when she gets into relationships, the first thing she does is look for what's wrong with they guy and is looking for a process for that.)
Abraham: So here's this vision of what you want and here's this person that doesn't look like what you want. That's why you freak out! And then you say "You… bugger (emphatic)... YOU should be like THIS! And then I'd be altogether."
And we say, what you want to understand is, it's normal to throw a fit. We want you to make peace with that. It's normal not to feel good when you're not letting yourself be who you really are. That's guidance. That's guidance telling you [that] you're looking at something different than what you want, so right there when you're looking at it, you can do something about it other than ask him to change because the vision is there and there's plenty in this Virtual Escrow that is contained right there in that person, right there in that client /employer/ that segment of the universe.
There's plenty in there that matches this, you just have to go on the treasure hunt and find it. And when you do, you've matched you're vision, you see. And that's how you have your cake and eat it too. That's how you line up with who you are. That's how you be true to who you are. That's how you find true integrity. Integrity with who you are without offending everybody else. And that's how you keep moving from place to place, person to person, face to face in order to find what you want.
That was really good.
