Seth: Physical Objects Transmit Meaning Just Like Text

SETH SPEAKS
Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul

Seth: As you read the words upon this page, you realize that the information that you are receiving is not an attribute of the letters of the words themselves. The printed line does not contain information. It transmits information. Where is the information that is being transmitted then, if it is not upon the page?

The same question of course applies when you read a newspaper, and when you speak to another person. Your actual words convey information, feelings, or thoughts. Obviously the thoughts or the feelings, and the words, are not the same thing. The letters upon the page are symbols, and you have agreed upon various meanings connected with them. You take it for granted without even thinking of it that the symbols - the letters - are not the reality - the information or thoughts - which they attempt to convey.

Now in the same way, I am telling you that objects are also symbols that stand for a reality whose meaning the objects, like the letters, transmit. The true information is not in the objects any more than the thought is in the letters or in words. Words are methods of expression. So are physical objects in a different kind of medium. You are used to the idea that you express yourselves directly through words. You can hear yourself speak them. You can feel the muscles in your throat move, and if you are aware, you can perceive multitudinous reactions within your own body - actions that all accompany your speech.

Physical objects are the result of another kind of expression. You create them as surely as you create words. I do not mean that you create them with your hands alone, or through manufacture. I mean that objects are natural by-products of the evolution of your species, even as words are. Examine for a moment your knowledge of your own speech, however. Though you hear the words and recognize their appropriateness, and though they may more or less approximate an expression of your feeling, they are not your feeling, and there must be a gap between your thought and your expression of it.

The familiarity of speech begins to vanish when you realize that you, yourself, when you begin a sentence do not know precisely how you will end it, or even how you form the words. You do not consciously know how you manipulate a staggering pyramid of symbols, picking from them precisely those you need to express a given thought. For that matter, you do not know how you think.

You do not know how you translate these symbols upon this page into thoughts, and then store them, or make them your own. Since the mechanisms of normal speech are so little known to you on a conscious level, then it is not surprising that you are equally unaware of more complicated tasks that you also perform - such as the constant creation of your physical environment as a method of communication and expression.

It is only from this viewpoint that the true nature of physical matter can be understood. It is only by comprehending the nature of this constant translation of thoughts and desires - not into words now, but into physical objects - that you can realize your true independence from circumstance, time, and environment.

Now, it is easy to see that you translate feelings into words or bodily expressions and gestures, but not quite as easy to realize that you form your physical body as effortlessly and unselfconsciously as you translate feelings into symbols that become words.

You have heard the expression before, I am sure, that the environment expresses a particular individual's personality. I am telling you that this is a literal and not symbolic truth. The letters upon the page have the reality only of ink and paper. The information they convey is invisible. As an object, this book itself is only paper and ink. It is a carrier of information.

Head in the Clouds/Pollyanna vs Dynamic Living

Abraham, Mexican Cruise, 01/23/10:

Guest: I find myself, okay, majority of the time in a really happy place. I don't really look at reality, I just try to be in a place where I feel really good. And so I'm looking for a feeling...

Abraham: Now, we want to just ask you a question, all of you:

So did we make it sound to you like we want you to ignore reality, and just find the feeling place, and then just feel your way around, or did you understand us to say ignore reality because it's easier then to feel your way into the Vortex, then you tune into the whole of Who You Are, and then you give your undivided attention to Life?

That's quite a different subject, isn't it? And some of you aren't quite making the jump. You've got the ignoring the reality part down, and you've got the feeling for something..that's why they call you Pollyanna, but you're sort of, you've got your head in the clouds because you're not really focusing. In other words, we want you to do it all.

We want you to ignore reality long enough to get into the Vortex, knowing that once you are in the Vortex that your undivided attention will cause you then to devour Life.

In other words, when you are conversing with someone who is tuned in and passionate about something, they're not ever accused of being Pollyanna. They're talking about future worlds; they're talking about dynamic things; they're talking about new technology; they're talking about new inventions; they're talking philosophy; they're talking about the best of life; they're talking about how Life is good to them in this way and this way and this way and this way.

We're not suggesting that you go to the Vortex and you sit over dinner and then someone says, "Hi how are you?"

And you say, "Flow and Ease."

And they say, "Did you move into your new house?"

And you say, "Appreciation. Clarity. Blissful."

That's not what we're encouraging. We want you to use the tools to tune in, so that you can give them the real response when someone says, "How are you doing?" and you say, "I have never been better. It's as if everything that I've ever lived is all queued up for this moment." You'll give them a hair blowing back experience, but they won't call you Pollyanna.

Guest: Maybe that was the wrong choice.

Abraham: "I never felt better in my life. Everything is going my way. Abundance is flowing. Ideas are flowing. Books are flowing through me. People are coming everywhere. Anything I want I can be or do or have."

"How are you?"

"Check," they'll say, "Check," but they won't call you 'Pollyanna'.

Reality is Old News

Abraham, Phoenix AZ, 12/5/09

You want to say, "Reality is OLD NEWS!"

Even what's manifested right now, it's old news, it's past tense. The money in my bank account right now is past tense. My physical bodily conditions right now are past tense.

They're past tense because there is a vibrational reality that's new and vivid and current, and it's who I really am, and it's based on that (which) all of my emotions ARE.

Visualization as Entertainment

Abraham-Hicks, St. Louis, MO, 7/18/00

You go to a movie to be entertained and uplifted, to be distracted, inspired. You go because you think it will be fun, and that's the reason why we want you to visualize. We want you to visualize for the fun of visualizing, to make visualization satisfying to you as much as going to the movies.

Practice your visualization for the pleasure of the vision rather than because its an exercise that'll get you from one place to another. Because when you say, "Here is where I'm standing -- I would like to be over there, and I'm going to do an exercise to get from here to there," what happens when you do that is you are including both vibrations in your mix, but when you say, "I'm gonna visualize this, because it's fun to visualize this, because its uplifting to think about," now you leave that part of the vibration out of the vibration. That's really, really big!

The Universe has the ability to yield to you in ways most of you are not ready to accept or understand. So that's what visualization is all about: it's bringing yourself to a joyful vantage point. It's like painting the most pleasurable picture so that you become a vibrational match to something that you're wanting -- dreaming it into place.

And when you meet those in your environment that have mastered anything -- whether they are a scientist, actor, teacher, singer or parent -- those who are successful and are thrilled and joyful will tell you, "I've dreamed this since i was little -- I imagined it, I pretended
it...," because in that fresh, pure, pure, pure -- you'll keep hearing that word from us -- purity of your vibration comes the alignment of energy. Purity is the alignment of energy.

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks about anything. It only matters what you think about it. Dream your dream for the dream's sake, and never mind about reality or probabilities. That's what's tripping you up, because in the dream you can make it pure, and when you make it pure in your dreams the universe will answer it.

So it boils down to you're dreaming it for the THRILL of dreaming it, not because you're trying to create with it, NOT BECAUSE YOU'RE TRYING TO CREATE WITH IT! That is the fly in the ointment. That is what's keeping most of you from letting your vibration really be pure.

You are all so practical-minded. You say, "Shouldn't I be doing something? Shouldn't I be suffering a little more? I'm taking pleasure from the visualization, but what good is that doing?"You have been taught all of your life to get your head out of the clouds, get your feet on the ground and face reality -- and we say NEVER DO THAT unless reality is really, really, really pleasing to you. Otherwise, take the best parts from the buffet table called Reality -- your life -- and fill in the gaps with your vision.

The Authentic You is the Truth. The Temporary you is the Lie.

Abraham, Mexico Cruise, 4-12-07

Guest: ... when it comes to my career .... I don’t even like to call it a career, because I don’t feel at this point that I have a CAREER .

Abe: That honesty thing is just going to kill you [audience laughter]. You’ve got tell-it-like-it-is-itis. [audience laughter]

G: I know. Yeah. [laughs]

A: Did you have someone up close to you that demanded that you never offer any deception whatsoever? In other words, where did this overeagerness to nail your foot to the floor come from?

G: [long pause] Well you know, you’re onto something there because what you’re saying is, It’s important to me to present myself accurately.

A: And so we would like to present yourself accurately from our point of view. Because we want you to catch a glimpse of who we see you as. We know who you are as you came in. And we’ve seen what life has caused you to become. And we give our undivided attention to your vibrational escrow. And so do all of the resources of the Universe.

And if you don’t turn your attention to what’s in your vibrational escrow, you cause a splitting of energies that keeps your life from going the way you want to. You’ve got to start looking at the Real You. You’ve got to stop being so deceptive and looking dishonestly at the temporary you. You must start looking at the Authentic You. And the Authentic You is over there in vibrational escrow.

You see what we’re getting at? The Authentic You. The You that Law of Attraction is responding to most powerfully. That’s why the stream flows as it does. [Pointing] You’re over here. This is who You are. And you’re uncomfortable until the rest of you comes with it. [Powerfully.] So why are you clinging so hard to the statistics that measure where you are, when the Authentic You is over there with a career that is beyond description from your physical terms right now.

You’ve got to start looking that way and start trying to define it. And most of all you’ve got to stop feeling that that’s deception. Because where you ARE is the true deception. That’s why it feels so bad. Not letting yourself be Who You Are is the great lie you are telling, you see. [huge audience applause]

And there are so many disconnected people willing to help you keep that lie alive. But you’ve come to a new awakening. You’re beginning to SEE Who You Really Are. And you know, now you’ve seen it, you can’t go back. You can NEVER resist going with the stream and feel good. You just HAVE to go with the stream. So, that discomfort you feel isn’t because you’re telling a lie. The discomfort you feel is because you’re beating the drum of where you are and not letting yourself go with the Authentic You.

Abraham: Feel Good NOW. It's crucial.

Abraham, 10/9/04-A, Tarryton, N.Y.

No matter where you’re standing, if it isn’t pleasing you, just remind yourself it’s not done. And then take the oh-so-easy, very short time emotional journey and show yourself how you can put ease in your experience...NOW...RIGHT NOW...NOW...RIGHT NOW...NOW...RIGHT NOW and then watch what happens. All of your power is NOW! NOW! This is your point of attraction. NOW.

Do you know that here you are and everything is actualizing around you NOW. So here you are in your NOW and everything is actualizing around your now. So your future experience that you are going to walk into is actually lining up in response to your vibrational output NOW. Interesting, isn’t it? So as you are ornery and upset or in despair, your future experience is lining up in response to that right now.

So you say, “But I have good reason!”

And we say who cares?

“But I have good reason to feel this way!” We say it doesn’t matter you’re still messing up your future experience.

“But Abraham, I know I’m right! This is the way that it is! I’m only speaking the truth!” We say, we know and your future is going to be full of it (laughter). Your future is going to be full of more of this truth that you’re feeling uncomfortable about NOW.

[snip]

So, you’ve just got to decide that you’re going to do the best that you can now to feel good and stop making excuses about why you don’t feel good now by charting all of the statistics of reasons why you’re justified in not feeling good.

Who cares? It doesn’t matter. You’re right...you should feel bad. But feeling bad only makes tomorrow worse! You’ve got to feel good NOW! You’ve got to make up your mind that nothing is more important than how I feel NOW. Because NOW is everything. NOW is the whole enchilada. NOW is the power of me. Now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now!

And if I practice NOW feeling good, there’s a better chance that tomorrow I’m going to feel good too. You might as well start somewhere and it might as well be NOW. Why not start improving your life now? Now. Now. Now.

But you’ve got to stop comparing what’s happening to you and what’s happening to anybody else. Because you don’t know what they’ve been launching into their experience. You might meet someone who is thriving NOW and you might feel jealous that they are thriving NOW, and your jealousy about them thriving now will keep you from ever thriving as long as you feel jealous. You’ve got to feel appreciation! You’ve got to feel love! You’ve got to understand that well-being flows to everyone and you might as well start your flow NOW!

So you see someone who’s thriving and you’re not. Maybe it’s with health, maybe it’s with love, maybe it’s with money. They are thriving abundantly and you’re not. And your tendency is to criticize them or find fault with them or to feel inferior to them. All negative emotions, all squelching your wellbeing and all messing up your future experience.

So instead you stop and you say, “I don’t like that he’s doing better than I am doing” (squelching). “His father probably bought that for him” (squelching). “He probably knows people in power” (squelching). “Somehow, he’s managed to get in vibrational alignment with what he wants,” (alignment).

In other words, when you compare your resources now with someone else’s, the only comparison that you could possibly be making is how in alignment they are with what they want and how in alignment you are with what you want. And that’s the only justifiable equation that makes sense.

Abraham: Don't worry, honey. It's not real.

Abraham, Philadelphia, PA 10/13/04

Abraham: We want you to be very particular about the reality that you watch because the reality that you watch is only a movie that someone else has created. Everything that everyone else is living is as fictitious as the movie that you watch because it’s not real in the sense that it now has the power to jump into your experience.

When you go to a movie and you see something that frightens you, you say to your child, “Don’t worry honey, it’s not real.” And we want to say to you, you could see someone with cancer and you could as accurately say the same thing to that [child] “Don’t worry honey, it’s not real.” Because it has been created by the vibration of that person. It doesn’t have a reality of its own and the power to jump into your experience.

People will say, “Well Abraham, it’s truth, it’s real, it’s fact, therefore I should give my attention to it.”

And we say, “Did you hear what you just said? Someone else gave their attention to something that they did not want, did it long enough that the activated vibration became a dominant vibration until they created it in their experience. And because they have done that, I should do it too.”

And we say, “We wouldn’t.”

Abraham Advises Writer on Book Sales

AbrahamSan Diego, CA - 2/15/03A

[The guest asking the question is a writer.]

Q: I’ve been [stuck on what is], and one little trigger for that is my book sales were roaring for a while and the last couple of months the book sales have just really dropped. And so then that ‘what-is-ness’ starts to trigger some fear, some lack, whatever, and I’m wanting to step away from that, to step into....

Abraham: Well, we understand that you’ve been oriented, most of you, in this physical environment where you are accustomed to evaluating your life based upon what is. And our effort, as we visit with you in these gatherings, is to get you focused upon what is becoming and not fixated so much upon what is. And if you were forward-looking, rather than looking at what is, it would be much easier for you to be in a place of allowing what is to be better.

In other words, it’s easier to imagine imaginary people coming into your experience and doing imaginary, wonderful things than it is to look at somebody in your experience who’s never done anything very wonderful and imagine them doing something wonderful. It’s easier to imagine success than to take failure and turn it around. It’s just easier when it’s in the imagery than it is when you’re facing reality.

And reality is not as significant as you all want it to be. People will say to us, “If things would get better, I will feel better,” and we say, we don’t doubt that but it doesn’t work that way. You’ve got to feel better and then things get better.

Openings at $75K to $500K+

And so, there is so much that is working. In other words, aren’t you thrilled at the inspiration that poured through you? And aren’t you thrilled with the book that came through you? And aren’t you thrilled with the way it unfolded? And aren’t you thrilled with the way it looks? And aren’t you thrilled with the response that people are having to it? And aren’t you thrilled that you had the wherewithal to get that underway? And aren’t you thrilled that you are an author? And aren’t you thrilled that there are more books still within you? And aren’t you thrilled that it’s a never-ending process?

[The guest has been responding to Abe’s questions with genuine appreciation, saying “Mm-hm” and “Yes.”]

Aren’t you thrilled that you’re here at this time? Aren’t you thrilled at the ability to publish something in this day and age? Aren’t you thrilled at the avid readers that are drawing these things through you? Aren’t you thrilled that there are so many people looking for what you have, and aren’t you thrilled at the idea of them meeting up with you in some way? And aren’t you thrilled at all the ideas that haven’t even occurred to you yet? And aren’t you thrilled at the people that you haven’t met yet that will help you along the way?

Isn’t it exciting to you to think about your future experience, and isn’t it fun to see how it unfolds? Aren’t you excited about meeting the people you don’t know yet, and aren’t you excited about writing the words that you haven’t even thought of yet? And aren’t you excited about the future publishers that will help you, and aren’t you excited about the future publicists that will get you out there? Isn’t it exciting when you think about all the potential that is within you, and aren’t you exhilarated about the unfolding of that which is to come? And doesn’t that feel better than the book that isn’t selling now? You see?

So if you could just get fixated on all that that feels good. The thing that keeps you from doing that is you’ve been convinced, “Abraham, that’s whimsical and this is real, and if it’s real it deserves more air time.” And we say, no, it doesn’t! Don’t give anything that doesn’t feel wonderful any of your attention.

That’s like turning on your radio—it sounds horrible, it’s a bad connection, it’s staticky, and it’s not even your style, and you say, “All right, all right, all right, all right, all right.” And your friends say, “Why are you listening to that?” And you say....

Q: (Laughing.) It’s what is. It’s real.

Abe: It’s what is. It’s what is.

“Do you like it?”

“No, I hate it.”

“Then why are you listening to it?”

It’s on—can’t you hear it? (Laughter.) It’s on.

I feel obligated to listen to it because it’s REAL.”

And we say, it’s not real, it’s just the transmission in the moment. It’s no more real than something magnificent or something truly satisfying, you see.
