Abraham on Pain

Abraham-Hicks,  07-09-95

Abraham: When you feel the pain, acknowledge what pain is: Pain is help on the way. Pain is what it feels like when the help is flowing, and I'm really not letting it flow - as much as I would like to. IOW, pain is a combination of faster moving energy (which is help), and my resistance. So, as you embrace the pain (because that means help is on the way) and then try to relax in order to let the help in, you actually relax into the pain - relax into the pain. As you accept the stiffness as energy flowing, then rather than cursing it, or damning it, or wanting it to go away, you say, bless this stiffness, this is help on the way. Can you feel the difference in embracing something and in pushing something away? In relaxing in to the pain rather than resisting the pain? In acknowledging the pain as evidence of energy flowing which is healing energy?

Why Abraham Is Unbeatable No Matter How Intense the 'Opponent'

Abraham - Tarrytown, NY  3/30/06

Guest: So, illness, uh...I've chosen that illness? I should...I chose my...

Abraham: No... here's the thing. No one would ever deliberately choose it. First, let's talk about what illness is. Illness is me in my physical body having created a faster a current than me with my thoughts and beliefs will let myself go with. That's the best definition of illness that we could ever give and so you say, but what about babies? We say it's no different.  The stream is going faster than my thoughts are letting myself go with, period.

A woman said, I'm pretty positive, and I'm really sick. My friend is negative and she's not sick. It's not fair. And we said her stream isn't moving as fast as yours is so she can mess around more, and it doesn't take the toll on her. In other words, if your stream is barely moving, you can mess around without any negative repercussions.

Jerry and Esther spend one whole summer putting a rubber raft in the Bitter Root River in Montana and just floated. It was so slow and easy. They laid in the boat; sometimes they took a little nap; they watched the clouds go by. They weren't doing that on the river in Colorado. Different kind of river you see. When your life has caused you to create a fast moving river, now you gotta be pointed in the right direction in the river or it will beat you up.

Guest: Yeah, cause I was pointed in the absolute wrong direction when it hit me.

Abraham: We don't call it wrong direction we call it opposite of the self-created flow. And this is so easy for us to explain because we know how the flow got there. We know the Well-Being in the Flow. We know the Eternal Legacy of the Flow.

And so you just can't not let yourself stay up to speed with Who You Have Become. And you can - you all can - can you not feel the intensity of him? And so when you are so clearly focused, and you are opinionated, which is a wonderful thing, and you are willing to get out there in the world and dive in to issues, the more you do it the more you say, I want it this way and this way and this way and this way and the more you get your stream going.

But we really want to emphasize it's your stream. You're not creating the world's stream. You're creating your stream. And as you get your stream really moving then it really behooves you to go in the direction of your stream. And when you don't, you'll get sick.

Guest: You know it'd be great if you were like a 200 lb man that I could wrestle the crap out of. You know, just to play around, just ...that's great, you know. Like two wolves, you know,  just wrestling. Not Esther, Abraham, you know. (Audience Laughter)

Abraham: In time you will come to appreciate the power of thought over any possible physical prowess.

Guest: Laughs. [Audience applause.]

Abraham: And the thing that is so interesting with people who want to wrestle with us, is that what they forget every time is that you've never ever had anybody in all of your life more on your side than we are. So it's such an interesting thing as we wrestle towards the same end of your success because you can't beat us.

Guest: Oh, I don't want to beat you. I just want to tumble with ya...

Abraham: What we're getting at is that we're unbeatable because we're not in competition. In other words, you can't beat us because your win is Ours. Oh, that's so good. That's really worth thinking about because that means that when... as we play together, you can't help but give birth to greater clarity, and then we turn our undivided attention towards that which you have become, and then we radiate it so powerfully and call you toward it, you see. Oh, it's great fun.

Guest: Spiritual Orgy.

Abraham: It's great fun for non-physical beings to play with intense humans. It's the best of all worlds. In other words, take that airplane, put it high in the sky, and move it at an incredible rate of speed, and go with the flow of it, nothing is more exhilarating than that. Put it on the ground, not so fun.

Guest: Right. Right.

Abraham: Good.

Guest: [Simultaneously] Good. Nice to meet you.

Seth: Illness Is A Form Of Avoidance

Seth, The Early Sessions, Book 4, Session 159

A cure of any kind will never depend upon any given treatment. It will in all cases depend upon the belief on the part of the sufferer that he can be cured. It will depend upon his desire to be cured. It will depend upon the strength of the purpose than an illness serves. It will depend upon, in the last analysis, the individual's own ability to mobilize his energies, for only these will effect a cure.

shoebuy.com

An illness is a failure to solve a mental or psychological problem in the correct manner. The energy that would be used to solve the problem instead is spent maintaining the illness. It is therefore necessary that an attempt be made as soon as possible to solve the problem, which of course must first be discovered by the ego, which has avoided it.

Doctors and Beliefs about Health and Illness

Abraham - Atlanta, GA 11/03/01

Guest: I'm a physician, and I'm amazed at what is possible. And what I've observed is, those who have spontaneous healing are absolutely convinced that it will take place. Their consciousness, if you like, is convinced that they will be whole, or they are whole. Would you say that's so, or how would you?

Abraham: When someone is sick, out of that sickness comes an exaggerated desire to be whole, or to be well. And so, even if they're not speaking it with their words, it is an implied desire that emanates from them -- literally from every cell in their body. And in the moment that that is so, Source Energy goes to work on answering that. And so, the only question, relative to how long will it take them to return to their wellness, is -- how long will it take them to stop the resistance that is keeping the wellness away to begin with? And so, if they are convinced in their ability to be well -- then they are well very quickly.

When a person is really convinced of their ability to be whole, most of the time they don't get sick, to begin with -- because that belief in wholeness keeps them in the place of allowing Well-being on a pretty steady basis.

You are multifaceted Beings and different things can get your attention. And it is not hard to get out of balance, just like it is not difficult to get back into balance. And so, as they find themselves out of balance, there is just a stronger part of them that is seeking that balance.

As a physician, or as any healer, we would say to you, in a powerful way, that your value to them is in providing for them a further measure of believing in their Well-being. They come to you in an exaggerated desire to be well, and you are able to speak from your belief in wellness. And that's not hard to do if you will look at worldwide statistics. But this sometimes happens to physicians: their world becomes so much about sick people, that they forget that there are many more well moments than there are sick moments. And when a physician takes that turn, where he begins to believe more in sickness than he does in wellness -- then he is of no value to those who come to him for the discovery of Well-being.

Guest: That resonates very loudly. Thank you so much.

Abraham: Yes indeed, yes indeed.

If All is Curable, Why is there Death?

Abraham, San Francisco, CA 2/24/2007-B

Guest: I have three questions.

Abraham: We have one answer.

Guest: I'm wondering if nothing is incurable, why is death inevitable.

Abraham: Oh, that was such a loaded question because what your question seems to mean is that there is life and then there is the long, sickly slide into death. As if the only reason anyone would ever die is because they have an illness. IOW, it's hard for you to conceive that anyone would want to die.

And we say you understand that you want to be born into this physical body, why is it hard to conceive that you would want to reemerge into pure nonphysical energy? The death experience, energetically speaking, is as exhilarating as the birth experience since there is no death. We like to call it croaking. We like to be as disrespectful as we can because there is no such thing as death. Did you feel the depth of the resistance in the human perspective relative to that though?

Guest: Yes, I think so. I'm trying to assimilate what you're saying.
Abraham: So ask the question again.

Guest: So death, "croaking", let's call it "croaking", okay, croaking seems to be an inevitable experience.

Abraham: But hear it from our POV. Life is inevitable. A changing of perspectives is inevitable. Eternalness is inevitable. That's like saying...how would like it if you say: I was born into this physical life experience, and I went to a movie one day. And now I have to watch the same movie over and over and over and over and over. Every time I try to get out of theatre they say No, it's not your time yet; go back.

IOW, this is just one of the aspects of Who You Are. You never intended to stand in one place.

Guest: Okay

Abraham: You begin to develop this resistance to, and it is odd, because it is inevitable, you don't know anyone that doesn't experience it, and yet you dread it. And a question like this further enhances the dread, doesn't it?

Guest: Well, I'm not sure, exactly, really. I'm trying to reconcile, if there's nothing that's incurable...

Abraham: IOW, if disease doesn't take you out, would anybody die. Let's take away train wrecks, car wrecks, trucks running over you. And disease...and there's leprosy...

We love this question because what you're helping us amplify is that there are many people who make their death experience in the same way that you make your next choice in life experience. IOW, sometimes you've lived enough live and you've put enough into vibrational escrow that the death experience is the call of Source.

IOW, when this time space reality is no longer serving you in the powerful way you've intended, you often opt for reemergence into nonphysical and a fresh start again. Humans don't like the thought of that because they say oh the last start was pretty rough going and I just got it squared away and now I have to start all over? I have to be a teenager again?

But, we lovingly want to say to you that that is a question that would ever only be spoken from human perspective and from a disconnected human perspective as well.

Guest: Okay. Thank you. My next question: we can decide how we're going to die and when we're going to die?

Abe: You are the creator of your experience and in that sense, without exception, every death is suicide because nothing happens to any of you that is outside of what's going on in your vibration.

Guest: Whether we're conscious of it or not.

Abraham: A lot of creating by default going on by a lot of people because you're offering vibrations all over the place not tending to them because you've forgotten that it matters how you feel. It's a very common thing. People will say, "I must speak the truth. I must face reality." And we say why keep active in your vibration something that you don't want. "Because it's true."

We say but surely there are things that are true that cause alignment with source. IOW, just because it's true, it doesn't deserve your attention. Pick the things that are true that feel good when you focus on them and let that be the vibrational base of your life experience. Good.

Seth: The Choice of Life and Death is Always Yours

Seth, The Nature of Personal Reality, SESSION 646, MARCH 7, 1973, 10:28 P.M. WEDNESDAY

Rob: (Just yesterday Jane received a letter from a woman who described the onset, a few years ago, of extraordinary feelings of transcendent love for mankind. Her profound emotions still continued, although she had them under control. She had told no one about them, though, and wanted to know if we could ask Seth about their meaning. In addition, she had recently received a medical verdict about the certainty of her death within a year or two.)

Seth: Now. A note to the woman whose letter you have there.

Give us a moment. . .

No man or woman consciously knows for sure which day will be the last for him or her in this particular life, that each calls the present one. Mortality with its birth and death is the framework in which the soul, for now, is expressed in flesh. Birth and death contain between them the earthly experience that you perceive as happening within a given period of time, through various seasons, and involving unique perceptions within areas of space-encountered with other human beings, all to one extent or another sharing with you events caused by the intersection of the self and time and space.

Birth and death then have their function, intensifying and focusing your attention. Life seems more dear in your terms, corporeal terms, because of the existence of death. It seems, perhaps, easier to have no conscious idea of the year or time that death might occur. Unconsciously of course each man and woman knows, and yet hides the knowledge.

The knowledge is usually hidden for many reasons, but the fact of death, personal death, is never forgotten. It seems obvious, but the full enjoyment of life would be impossible in the framework, now, of earthly reality without the knowledge of death.

You have been given an opportunity to study life and to experience it more fully than you ever have before in this existence. Its intensity and brilliance, its contrasts and similarities, its joys and its sorrows, are here for you to perceive, whose eyes are opened by the fact of the doctor’s pronouncement.

Now I tell you: That intensification, appreciated and understood, and the experience of life and living, accepted unconditionally, can bring you in this lifetime another birth in which the doctor’s pronouncements are meaningless. Spiritually the death sentence given you is another chance at life, if you are freely able to accept life with all of its conditions and to feel its full dimensions, for that alone will rejuvenate your spiritual and physical self.

The experience that you wrote of was significant on several levels, and of course was meant to reassure you ahead of time because of the events you knew would occur. The experience was to inform you emotionally and spiritually of the great meaning of each individual, portray the lovely brilliance that is within each human being, and let you know that the integrity of the self and the soul exists beyond the possibility of annihilation, as you yourself will continue to exist regardless of which path you choose to take ---dying within two years, or living physically on for many more. In other words, you will continue to exist and to be fulfilled within that love you sensed.

You felt before, unconsciously, that you were drifting and that life had little meaning. Beneath the surface of events you felt unfulfilled, and felt that you had great courage and abilities with never a chance to use them, and no “heroic” episodes then to rouse you to fuller understanding, and no real impetus to lift you or to bring excitement into your days.

Unconsciously, therefore, you chose a situation in which a crisis was precipitated, rousing all the greatest elements of heart and soul, so that they must strain to understand, to perceive, to triumph. And so you shall, in whatever way is most important for you, and you will learn more and be more fulfilled than you would have been had those conditions not been initiated.

This does not mean that there were not other ways available that you could have chosen. You chose the set of conditions that you did because in past existences you were so terrified of death that you tried to hide its knowledge from yourself, and this time you placed it in the forefront of your attention.

In the entire fabric of your existence, this life is a brilliant, eternally unique and precious portion, but only a portion, from which you emerge with joy and understanding, whether you die tomorrow or in years to come. The choice of life and death is always yours. Life and death are but two faces of your eternal, ever-changing existence, however. Feel and appreciate the joy of your own being. Many live into their nineties’ without ever appreciating to that extent the beauty of their being. You have lived before, and will again, and your new life, in your terms, springs out of the old, and is growing in the old and contained within it as the seed is already contained within the flower.

We are all travelers, whatever our position, and as one traveler to another, I salute you.

End of reply.

Seth on Death and Cancer

Seth, The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events, Sess 866, Mass Events

Cancer, for example, has become the symbol for the body’s vulnerability, in current years—the proof of man’s susceptibility to the body. It is a disease that people have when they want to die—when they are ashamed to admit that they want to die, because death seems to fly against sane behavior. lf the species struggles to survive, then how can individuals want to die?

I have mentioned before that many people have had cancer and recovered without knowing it. In your belief system, however, it is almost imperative to see a doctor in such circumstances (as Jane wrote in Note 2 for Session 805), for many fears are unsubstantiated, and the fear alone, found groundless, gives the person new life symbolically and physically.

In the case of your article, a woman’s cells would already have had to prepare themselves for the guest—granted that guest was cancerous, and was a sperm. There is not an attack. There is an acceptance and a preparation for certain changes.

(Pause at 10:13.) A life crisis is formed. The “parasite,” or virus, plays its part in setting up such a psychologically-desired position. It is an emotionally-charged position, an imminent crisis. I am aware of the tormenting questions involved in such issues, and also of the gap between my explanations and the daily experiences of many people. The fact is that when death comes it is wanted; it has been chosen.

The fact is that death in its way is the culmination of a life, leading toward a new birth and new experience. The cells know this. So does the heart. People cannot admit that they want to die at certain times. If they could accept the fact of their own wishes, some could even change their minds. Many do: The psychological condition changes for the better, and the body cells are no longer amiable to the cancerous condition.

Seth to Pasteur and Germ Theory: Drop Dead!

Seth (ESP Class, 11-10-70):

You can get rid of all the illness when you realize that you have the habit of creating and drawing it to you out of fear. What you fear most you draw to yourself.

Instead you must concentrate upon what you want and do not be so worried about where I am, just listen to what I have to say for now. You can learn to concentrate upon what you want and draw that to yourself and you can learn and without too much difficulty, to completely restructure the health habits of your family.

Now there are some past-life reasons for your attitudes and also for the profession in which you find yourself, and we will go into those.

But first of all you must understand that you can draw health to yourself and vitality and strength and that you are not at the mercy of any poor crawling germs or little flying monsters that come to attack you or your family, nor are you at the mercy of any fact.

Now I tell you this because there is a connection in your mind and illness becomes to you the symbol of something far different and far more profound.

It becomes in your mind the symbol of evil which attacks you in your mind in small ways to small illnesses. Now, this you have created for yourself and you can cease creating it. And now go home and feel well.
